    Unknown Regiment

    Recommended Posts

These men were friends of William John Beadle, would be interested in their regiment too, I can then label the photo's. My son Sam is really into War History, and it is so fascinating, once again, any input would be gratefully received.

    Kind regards Mrs. Jeanette Newton.

Note the tailoring of the tunic worn by the man on the left, there were specific instructions on how the "baggy" tunics were to be smartened up after WWI - how many inches off the chest, across the shoulders etc, but some units went further, & of course post WWI tunics were produced in a slightly different pattern to wartime, a closer fit & with features like no darts (I've probably got the wrong term here - lines of stitching, seams) leading from the front of the collar down under the rifle patches.

This man has the collar of his tunic tailored to a stand up collar, cavalry units tended to this style but he is Royal Artillery.
