The EK is definitely a later Spangenstueck, but it is a very nice NCO's bar, and not that common a combination.

Yup- I would look hard at that EK2 as it almost looks as if someone painted the rim silver---but I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

It couble be that the Tapferkeitsmedaille is a bronze piece (rarer), but I am not sure since it should have a more "chocolate"-like colour tone, and this one has almost a "Kupfer-Bronze" look...

I can not decide from which the medal is made ... If it's not bronze, it is possible bronzed zinc?

i have seen a number of these EK's on similar medalbars...

i suspect STRONGLY that it is an interwar cross, and probably

a foot soldier/NCO, as it is a relatively low quality

construction (as opposed to an officer grade/more expensive make).

having said that, i LOVE this bar! well done!

The EK2 looks like a Schickle made cross to me. Three piece construction imo. Not inferior in any way.

1st bar. EK2 repainted? the cloth on the back of bar looks new for me..

From the two bars I would choose the second one; it has more character and the IC is far better quality.

Just my opinion.

It might be my old tired eyes, but the EK on bar no. 1 does look like a standard "KO" to me. No? I'd almost bet it's three piece with magnetic core.
