Interesting that he was in I.R.88 !!! In Hanau... from Breslau... thats a long way.... The 88th is almost one of my local regts...

Yes, it is the Erkennungsmarke for Pastor Luck of 98 Reserve Division. During WWI officers often wore a non standard ID tag.
