Chris Boonzaier Posted February 16, 2011 Author Posted February 16, 2011 nope! Look mate, just because you are wholefully and utterly pig ignorrant about the Politically correct term for large boned South American lambada singer of Yiddish traditional songs does not mean you have to become cheeky now....
Eric Stahlhut Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 nah, it's just the possibility that your 'big boned lady' actually MIGHT HAVE a big bone is what gives me a not-so-festive feeling... anyways, can we please proceed to the the missing link???

Chris Boonzaier Posted February 16, 2011 Author Posted February 16, 2011 OK.... I have found the missing link.... Black on white that the OFFICIAL Certificates for the Iron Cross 1914 were to be awarded by the central ordens commision after demobilisation. There have been hints at this, especially after the kaisers order in 1918 that all docs issued should be considered to be the final one... but anything predating that has been elusive (to me in any event). Now I have a mid war doc with the text "this document is a preliminary document, the official doc will be awarded by the Ordens commission after demob"... For me pretty much the missing link... :-)))))))))

Chris Boonzaier Posted February 16, 2011 Author Posted February 16, 2011 Like this award document? http://gmic.co.uk/index.php/topic/46117-krfrw-kanonier-emanuel-sterns-ekii-award-document/page__p__425513__hl__translation__fromsearch__1#entry425513 . Dong! Damn, I missed that somehow... yes, about the same wording but a regular printed document, specific to the 56th Infantry regiment. Of some importance 8to me anyway) is that both units with this on their doc are from the 14th ID. Best Chris
Chip Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 I guess the officials of the 14.I.D. got tired of answering the question, "When will I get my official document" and just printed the answer on the temporary one. Chip
saschaw Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 I think we "knew" this all the time, but without any hard proof... Nice find!
