looking at this again.... still panting heavily....

what is the award to the left of the 1934 Ehrenkreuz?

would this possibly have been an issue to someone

high up in wilhelm's political structure? general staff?

it must have been a mover and shaker.

any thoughts from the ricks, as well?

Gentlemen,

A small offering to the cause. If this looks a little odd (aside from the incorrect ribbon) that is because, at 22.21 mm x 19.73 mm, not including the loop, it is a prinzen example. The correct ribbon would be 35 mm wide in the same shade of blue as shown with 1 mm white side stripes.

Best wishes,

Hi Ulsterman,

Thank you for the compliment. According to Hessenthal u. Schreiber, it looks like they had one line battalion and a Landwehr battalion as well.

I also have a full sized piece; but it is not here at home. I am making arrangements to get it here - hopefully tomorrow. Meanwhile, I found this little guy hanging around.

Thank you again and best wishes,

Wild Card

So is OEK2 the austrian iron crown order 2nd class? Pretty high for a hof fourier with 4th class awards

No, this is a more appropriate Oldenburg Ehrenkreuz 2. Klasse:

Hello everybody

There is a lot of beauties here. Thanks for sharing those with us.

@Graham, you have an impressive collection.

@Komtur, like always your collection is impressive.

I used to have one SE3X with original box.

Here is one ribbon bar of Maempel who served with IR 95 during WW1

    • Sounds great other than the Orange & Mango squash only because I prefer cran-pomegranate juice.
    • "(...) disgusting herbal concoction (...)" I took note of this description, to enrich my otherwise limited, English "Wortschatz"...
    • At work the standard indian tea such as PG tips is referred to as chimp tea. This goes back to the days when we had a Spanish girl working for us whose command of the English language was extremely limited. One lunch she said she was going to the shop could she get anything. I asked if she could get a pack of tea bags. She returned with some disgusting herbal concoction. I tried to explain what was required but without success. I then remembered PG tips had a picture of a chimpanzee on the packe
    • When I read Lapsang Souchong i decided to post something about these Tea . Many years ago I dont  know about Lapsang until I read James Michener book Centennial and the description of the savour of the Lapasang as a mix of tar and salt & smoked made me proof . It was exact ! and i liked it since then .
    • I have been known to drink Lapsang Souchong and Tea, Earl Grey, Hot... both "without pollutants". I normally have one mug of coffee in the morning, then spend the rest of the day drinking Orange & Mango squash (by the pint). Then evening comes and it's a pint, followed by red wine with dinner and sometimes a drop of Laphroaig afterwards.
