    Hello Andrey!

    Cool photo!

#3 - Looks like Saxon Silver Friedrich-August Medal.

    Thanks for reply, Sergio!

Ribbon seems a bit different from the Friedrich-August Medal

Андрей, думается, что это она - желтая лента со светло голубыми полосками. То, что выглядит она не привычно - эффект черно-белой фотографии

Am I right in thinking there was no actual I & II Class Schlesisches Bewährungsabzeichen? Kevin in Deva.

Kevin, you are wrong. Moreover there were 8 variants of that badge - various additions to the two basic grades, 1st and 2nd class, namely

    II. Stufe

    II. Stufe mit Eichenlaub

    II. Stufe mit Schwertern

II. Stufe mit Eichenlaub und Schwertern

    I. Stufe

    I. Stufe mit Eichenlaub

    I. Stufe mit Schwertern

    I. Stufe mit Eichenlaub und Schwertern.

The difference between 1st and 2nd classes of the Schlesischer Adler can be clearly seen on the photo I posted here:)

yes- but weren't the extras classes restricted to only two by the consolidation regs of 1934? Still, i have pics of SAs in wear with the swords and oaks well into the 1940s. I don't think ferreting out the cancelled classes was a priority.

    Hi,

in my opinion statements about the medal are a belief, but not knowledge, no comment from me.

    But:

"Schlesisches Bewährungsabzeichen, various additions to the two basic grades"

Freiwillige, there are only two classes, I.Stufe and II. Stufe.

See for example HuS from 1940, No. 406j 406k on page 118:

"Verboten ist die Hinzufügung von Schwertern, Eichenlaub und dergl." > Eichenlaub und Schwerter are not allowed.

".. aus mattgeschwärztem Eisen (also nicht emailliert) ...)" > iron, not enamelled.

Or see Dombrowski from 1940 on page 32/33:

"... abweichende Formen und Arten des Schlesischen Bewährungsabzeichens - z.B. die Hinzufügung von Eichenlaub und Schwertern - dürfen ncht getragen, hergestellt, angeboten, feilgehalten, verkauft oder sonst in den Verkehr gebracht werden." > Eichenlaub und Schwerter and enamelled crosses are not allowed, under threat of penalty.

Kevin, only one class is correct for the Baltenkreuz.

    Thanks for clarification, Uwe!

Anyway I never doubted there were only 2 classes of the S.Adler - I just wrote that "8 variants of that badge" existed being based on "two basic grades, 1st and 2nd class".
