Some MVO's have a "thicker" metal edge around just the lower arm, while some do not. I remember something about the differences being in wether or not one type was issued verses private purchase. Dave Danner Posted November 27, 2011 Share Posted November 27, 2011 I can't find the specific thread, but my understanding/recollection is that the thicker edge was on those wartime/late-war pieces which no longer had real gold on the center medallions, but silver-gilt.
