    I'm asking for help.

Can anyone tell me how I can obtain a 1917or 1918 bavarian rank list detailing all Generalleutnants?

I'm wondering how I might narrow the field to all aristocrats of that rank who's family manor is outside Munich. I know this may seem odd but that's my personal mission.

Thank you Dave. I have seen one thread where you had access.

Why are many crossed out? Is that the way your list was when you got it. Also, whats the meanign of the letters I outlined?

I'm not sure why some are crossed out. In some cases, they died, but the dates of death were much later. But several others whose names aren't crossed out were also dead by the same point as some whose names are.

I think there may have been more but maybe they aren't listed due to death before 1918 or possible retirement.

I've been trying to look at each to see if I can determine which are from Munich area. Seems a hard task.

Charles there will be more - when you include all the recalled general officers who served during the war. The Ehrenrangliste alone lists a furthe 58 officers who were recalled and either died in the rank of or attained by wars end the rank of Generalleutnant. Of course not all of these were of noble birth.

Yes, I've found a few more and try to discount those who are not noble (von titles I assume) but I was hoping not that many possible.

With this many I'll have my work cut out for me.

Well, it's either one of these 3 listed below or another aristocrat that was not awarded a Max-Joseph or PlM.

How hard is it to find out if any are from Munich?

    Bernhard von Hartz

Karl Freiherr von Nagel zu Aichberg

    Gustav Scanzoni von Lichtenfels

Bernhard von Hartz was born in Munich, as were both of his children.

Karl Freiherr von Nagel zu Aichberg was born in Amberg. He married an American woman in Munich. His surviving daughters married non-Germans and ended up moving to, and dying in, the USA.

Gustav Scanzoni von Lichtenfels was born in Würzburg. His son Albert was also born in Würzburg, but resided in Munich. I don't think Albert had any children.

    • 6 months later...

I'm bringing this topic back to ask if I can get further help from you men who has such vast knowledge. I may be completely wrong but I' thinking the owner was von Hartz

    Munich resident

    Aristocrat

    GenLt

Did not possess the Max-J or the PlM

Family still live in Manor outside Munich, have been unable to confirm this...

But that not much to go on but I've not found a better match.
