Kev in Deva Posted July 15, 2012 Author Posted July 15, 2012 "KAMPFAUTRAG DER FDJ AUGUST 1961" Kevin in Deva.
BURGERHAUS Posted July 15, 2012 Posted July 15, 2012 Very nice Kevin you are fortunate. I show my Gutes Wissen and am curious as to the time period of each as my serial # is engraved in the pin and yours is separate. Well done sir. Regards Robert
Kev in Deva Posted July 15, 2012 Author Posted July 15, 2012 Hi BURGERHAUS, I will go out on a limb and speculate your piece predates mine, as it appears to be a solid casting as opposed to being stamped. Possibly no way to put individual serial number on stampings other than a glued separate tab. Kevin in Deva.
BURGERHAUS Posted July 15, 2012 Posted July 15, 2012 Kevin Yes probably as the number is lower as well. The first piece you show is especially a favorite as I see five distinct colors being used. Very well made. I wonder who the maker would be. Take care
speedytop Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 Hi Ulsterman, the badge "For good knowledge" in bronze, silver and gold is for knowledge in Marxismus-Leninismus and the policy of the SED, in different levels of difficulty. There is in each level a written report and an examination talk. Sorry, only in German: http://www.ddr-schul.../pdf/fdj-gw.pdf Uwe
Paul R Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 Were these badges handed out to everyone or did they have to be "earned"? I am just wondering if it was considered to be an accomplishment to get one of these?
speedytop Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 Hi Paul, no, not to everyone. "Für hervorragende Leistungen im Fünfjahrplan" (for outstanding achievements in the five-year plan): http://de.wikipedia....n“ It was, simply expressed, for doing more than others, exceeding the standards (Norm). "Kampfauftrag der FDJ 1961" (combat mission of the FDJ): http://de.wikipedia....auftrag_der_FDJ After building the Berlin Wall in 1961, they needed some more soldiers. This medal was für young FDJ members, who followed the call (join the Army). "Pionierpark Ernst Thälmann Berlin", please see FEZ: http://de.wikipedia....ntrum_.28FEZ.29 It could be a souvenir for visitors of the large "recreation park". The badge "Für gutes Wissen" exist in several variations, magnetic or not magnetic. The last badge is for children (JP = Junge Pioniere): Uwe
Paul R Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 Very nice explanation. Thank you. Some of them are very attractive. I can see the appeal!
Kev in Deva Posted July 19, 2012 Author Posted July 19, 2012 Speedy, many thanks for the additional information. Kevin in Deva.
BURGERHAUS Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 I ponder the signifigance of adding the triad as opposed to only Herr Marx?
Ulsterman Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 Thanks!!! Any chance anyone has one of the old exams lying about? I'd love to see some of the questions: "Please state in less than 500 words, why Chairman Honecker is both brilliant and modest". "In 500 words, what are the greatest achievements of the 5 year plan?"..."Describe American and Western Capitalist evil-doing since 1900. Please give examples and dates".
