Now amazing piece in bronze.

Destroyed bars and added (by cavalier???) swords (and what swords!)

The most terrible thing Lars, is that some of them take active part in manufacturing of these peices.

It`s like vertically integrated corporation

That would be collusion. :violent: :violent: That could explain why the fakes are so bloody good............

Hi Nick

The 4th class is being offered at Galerie Auction.

Appreciate if you have any thoughts on it. After viewing post 58 I'm not sure about anything.

The black enamel trim that border sections of the circle and the beginning of the four arms of the cross is not even at all.

TWO WORLD WARS, REVOLUTION, COMMUNISM, EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN & NOT EVEN A SCRATCH :o

IT SEEMS ONE WOULD NEED AN IRON STOMACH AND PLENTY OF MAALOX IN COLLECTING THE ULTRA RARE TODAY.

BTW GOOD EYE NICK

Well, the cross for the capture of Ismail is described in the catalogue already, as a later re-strike (Nachprägung).

This is a very disturbing thread (as it should be, alas). I will be looking at some of my pieces in a new way!  Nick, are you aware of anyone faking the Preussichs-Eylau Cross of 1807?  Some years ago I purchased a purported 'Novodel' 19th century copy from one of the 2 major Russian dealers in the U.S. It was reasonable and sold as a copy (in brass). I had it guilded for my Napoleonic collection since the dealer told me that such original crosses are just not available on the market. Since it was originally crudely made like most St. George's, I'm surprised that I haven't seen those for sale by the fakers. Your thoughts would be appreciated.
