I believe from 1860-1870 Grand Duchy of Baden

Very difficult to say with the size of the image. Baden troops were not wearing that type of epaulette during the period. Can you do a larger image?

I found this uniform on a museum site thought it resembled my unknown uninform. The site id'd it as a piedmontese uniform, has anyone heard of the Piedmontese? comments?

Piedmontese would refer to the Kingdom of Piedmont-Sardinia. This Italian kingdom led the path to Italian Unification with it's king, Victor Emanuel II eventually assuming the title of King of Italy.

Considered excellent troops, Piedmontese-Sardinians fought in the coalition against France in the Napoleanic Wars and on the side of the British/French/Ottomans against the Russians in the Crimea.

Did German troops join/help the Piedmont-Sardinia Army?

A Google search yields several websites that suggest; Yes, German and Swiss regiments existed in the Piedmont-Sardinia Army.

    One such website: http://www.napoleon-series.org/military/organization/Piedmont/c_piedmont.html

Of course, these are random data points and only suggest areas for further research as to the origin of your original posted photo.

No, this uniform is from sometime between 1850 and 1870. There were no non-Sardinian units in that kingdom's armed forces by that time.

    For instance, see http://marksrussianmilitaryhistory.info/Sardinia1854.htm
