Obergefreiter Posted October 14, 2012 Posted October 14, 2012 Recently I acquired an Ostvolk 2nd/class with swords. All I have to go on as to the color of the award is the ribbon, which if you believe it, would indicate that it is in the gold class. My question is, it looks as though the "gold" finish was never applied to the medal. Not just worn off, never applied. Has anyone ever run into this in the past? I'll be happy to post or email pics if necessary.
J Temple-West Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 Complete absorption of the finish on zinc badges/awards is quite common, and would think that this is most likely the case with your piece.
