Navy Short-term Commission Badge: A Close Look

    JapanX

    Recommended Posts

First of all no leather cases in sight - only balsa ones (but then again I saw this badge only three times ;))

Second, where from this name "Army Service in the Navy" came from?

    I wonder...

Since the reverse and the box lid are inscribed "Navy Short Service" and "War Service Completion Badge".

Maybe Peterson have some additional info?!

    Any ideas chaps?

If you have this badge in your collection, please don`t hesitate to post it here (or mail me the pictures for posting ;)). There should be some very interesting variations of enamel color.

    Cheers,

    Nick

I know that this is a really old posting but I just found one! It’s not the issue case but can someone please translate the kanji on the lid. It might be the recipient’s name.

Thank you very much for any information.

    Tom

    No name.

The case is not original to the badge.

Looks like somebody tried to write (with the modern ballpoint pen)

    Navy

    [Imperial Military] Reservist Association Badge

Stamp of the case manufacturer is on the other side of the lid.

    P.S.

    Just in case.

The correct translation of the name of the badge

Navy short-term active service completion badge.

It was issued for completion of two year navy service tour to the graduates of civil universities (doctors, some engineering disciplines, etc). They were given the ranks of junior officers and served according to their specialties.
