JapanX Posted March 3, 2013 Yep. This rare Manchukuo wound badge (medal?)… The only source of info that we have today about this badge is 166 page in 3rd edition of Peterson book. Actually only four lines of text and even in these four lines we’ll find two inaccuracies Here it is

JapanX Posted March 3, 2013 By the way, can somebody explain to me why Peterson made this strange (absolutely irrelevant!) comment about Manchukuo reservist badge?! I mean what was his point?
JapanX Posted March 3, 2013 Now let’s examine this strange specimen from the Peterson book. Why it is “strange”? Because it is the only specimen I saw that don’t have stamped number on reverse. Obverse
JapanX Posted March 3, 2013 Now about this ribbon. It looks very strange … No hook, no catching eye… Is this ribbon original for this medal? As we know Peterson had doubts about it. Well he was right! Obviously this ribbon belong to the Girin/ Chángchūn Shì/ 吉林市 town medal.
JapanX Posted March 3, 2013 Now this is a big question if this “medal” is really medal. Because it has ribbon? But who told that this or that ribbon is original to this medal? Most medals we see came without any ribbons at all! After all it could be a badge. Unfortunately I’ve never seen 100% original box and 100% ribbon for this medal (badge?). Ok. It’s time to see these rarities in color

JapanX Posted March 3, 2013 № 5795 (the box is a wrong one - IMHO of course )
JapanX Posted March 3, 2013 № 12767 (another boxed speciment with the ribbon and again I suspect that the box and the ribbon are not originals )
JapanX Posted March 3, 2013 Maximum known number (thanks again David )
JapanX Posted March 3, 2013 It looks like in addition to this basic badge Manchukuo had association of wounded soldiers that issued its own badges. Here we have very interesting example of such badge. It has number 2046 on reverse and inscribed 滿洲傷痍軍人會 – Manchukuo Association of Wounded Soldiers and under the pin ?員章 – ? member badge
