Gentlemen, received this cap, Panzer, piped in pink, dated 1962......when bought, from the sellers photographs it appeared to be a 1962-1970 version of the visor cap worn by EM/NCO's, but upon receipt, and closer examination, it is infact an earlier version, an NCO's 1955-1962, it has been upgraded to the 1962 regulations (no piping on 55-62 versions) by the addition of pink piping, it appears to have been hand stiched to the crown and band areas, see photographs, it appears to be well done, tailored ?.....has anyone seen this done before, was this done ? it is a rather large size a 63 ! perhaps the former owner upgraded to keep up with "fashion".....your comments will be greatly appreciated.

    Prost ! Steve.

    Hi Steve,

why do you think, that it is an upgraded earlier version?

No, the visor is from 1962, without any doubts.

Or do you really believe, that the owner also changed the visor identification from Isken from 1962?

Uwe, thanks for your reply....IMO the cap is 1962, but it is of the pattern of 55-62...The piping looks to been added post production and was not put there during manufacture, as it must of been part the last year of the early visors, as in 1962 piping was added to these caps during manufacture as per regulations, so my question is...was this type of customizing done around the transition from early style caps to the next generation of caps, 62 to 1970 ? or is a one off ?

    Prost ! Steve.

    Hi Steve,

I don't know the date, when the coloured piping had been introduced.

If it was in 1962, it could be an early 1962 cap without the piping, and the owner added the piping, made by a company tailor.

But that was not really remarkable.

    Uwe
