Hero of Labour of the Russian Federation

It was only a matter of time IMHO. There had been pressure for years on the Russian Government by workers' groups and unions to reestablish a state award to replace the Soviet Era's "Hero of Labour of the Soviet Union".

On 29 March 2013, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed presidential decree №294 establishing the title "Hero of Labour of the Russian Federation"

The title is awarded to citizens of the Russian Federation for special services in labour to the state and its people associated with the achievement of outstanding results in public, social and economic activities aimed at ensuring the welfare and prosperity of Russia.

I must say I am quite surprised at the extremely cold, even frigid welcome by Russian friends for this revived award ... They hate it with a passion!

I bet they are simply not affiliated with these mythical "workers' groups and unions" who "had been pressure for years ... to reestablish a state award" ...

    Indeed... ;)

I'm serious though... A Muscovite friend (that I think you know from Sammler.ru) is in full fury over it. He thinks it's the dumbest thing ever! And he detests the fact they slapped the bi-cephalic eagle on a star, he simply detests it!

    Frank,

I've got to agree with the Muscovite friend at Sammler.ru... they've replaced the symbol OF the worker (hammer and sickle) with a symbol that OPPRESSED the worker (the Czarist double headed eagle). While the idea may be on the up-and-up (we'll see), the symbol used is completely contradictory. They could have, in my opinion, done better. I'd be interested in what Zuganov and the CPRF have to say about it.

Anyway, Happy May Day to All!

I honestly hadn't thought of that... A very valid point !

Actually this is a BIG question who oppressed "poor workers" more - "red star" or "czarist double eagle" ;)

But the idea to crossbreed them is indeed pure madness!

I'd be interested in what Zuganov and the CPRF have to say about it.

    Happy May Day Greg!

P.S. Please say "hi" to all "oppressed" from the local joint ;)

Well, Nick, you know how one who loves "that" statue would feel about the "red star" vs "czarist double eagle".

Regarding the oppressed at the joint, it's certainly the staff that's oppressed. The cons have it made. Climate control, three squares a day... hell, they even get to vote on which cable T.V. system they want. Makes one wonder if sticking to the "straight and narrow" is the way to go.

    You see!?

    Controversies are everywhere ...

Who are oppressing who and for how long

    The cons have it made.

    Naaa

    They "didn't do it".

    Simply ask them

Climate control, three squares a day... hell, they even get to vote on which cable T.V. system they want.

    No spa treatment?

    Cruel, cruel world

Hopefully this quote will cheer you up

“The oppressed are allowed once every few years to decide which particular representatives of the oppressing class are to represent and repress them.”

Has this gotten way, way off topic or what?

Yeah, we're getting ready to "decide which particular representatives of the oppressing class are to represent and repress" us here in the "Old Dominion". The line-up is typical... one candidate simply "forgot" to disclose several thousand dollars in gifts. Simply slipped his mind. :wacky::banger:

I must admit... There's most definitely an air of the past in that particular presentation... One can almost imagine the sound of farm tractors parading just outside below the balcony...

There’s nothing like the sound of a happy and content proletariat signing patriotic songs to the hum of well timed tractors… Always brings a tear to my eye… ;)
