JBeltram Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 Hello, I have found it rather hard to find a War Merit Medal either single mounted or on a medal bar. Here is an example I picked up a while ago and was happy to finally add one to my collection. How many others have mounted War Merit Medals? Regards, Jody
Chris Boonzaier Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 Hi Jody, Nice, as you say, you dont see these mounted that often...!
azyeoman Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 You're absolutely right; they're scarce to find mounted. Tom Yanacek mentions it specifically in his wonderful book on parade mounted bars. Like you, I was fortunate to find one and here it is. I hope others post theirs. Congratulations!
JBeltram Posted May 19, 2013 Author Posted May 19, 2013 (edited) Hello, Great bar with the Social Welfare Medal. Yes, I have that great book and a couple of my bars are even in it. They are a bear to find mounted. Regards, Jody Edited May 19, 2013 by JBeltram
J Temple-West Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 Here is my contribution. A strange setup on that one, Paul. Any chance of a shot of the back?
Paul R Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 Here are the additional photos. The oxidation, wear, and etc are uniform on all materials and is not artificial. It is a strange one, but I am comfortable with it.
P.F. Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Always good to see KVM's on medal bars! These are fantastic examples. Kind regards Pierce
azyeoman Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 Here's another and with a tailor's label too boot!
Paul R Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 Those are really awesome Azyeoman. The DRK bar is great.
azyeoman Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 (edited) Here's another group that is really quite rare due to the War Merit Medal (KVM). Edited January 7, 2015 by azyeoman
lambert Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 Here's another group that is really quite rare due to the War Merit Medal (KVM). you recommend this shop? Lambert
Pagan Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 Hi Lambert For me I have had no issue when buying from them Nice medal bars, now I have this urge to track down a KVM medal bar.
azyeoman Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 you recommend this shop? Lambert Yes, I do. I've never had any issues with him.
lambert Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 Hello.I've seen some things that interested me .. Thank U Lambert
Paul R Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 I personally love these. What I find most interesting is that I read that these were the most commonly awarded medals, but they are so scarce to find mounted.
Paul R Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 Nice one!! It is funny how millions of these were reported to have been issued, but they are so rare to find on bars.
lambert Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 is true... Lambert On 09/01/2015 11:44:09, azyeoman said: Yes, I do. I've never had any issues with him. I bought this store .. very good! Cheers Lambert
Pagan Posted December 5, 2015 Posted December 5, 2015 AS everyone has said, not easy to find, and when you do someone else has normally got it!!!
Paul R Posted July 10, 2016 Posted July 10, 2016 More great bars. The firefighter's set is very nice.
Uffz. Rohleder Posted August 10, 2018 Posted August 10, 2018 Sorry for bringing back this old topic. But since I saw those sacrace mounted War merit medals i hoped I would ever find one of these to. And here is the one I found. The owner was a ww1 veteran and later Truck driver who delivered supplies for the Westwall. Later he got the War merit medal to. He died before the war was over as his civilian truck was straffed by ground attack planes. I also have a photo of him and his Truck. REST IN PEACE
