arrestanddevelopment Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 Hi , Thought I would share this gem with you that I recently acquired for my collection . It pre-dates 1815 ,and depicts the early French eagle of Napoleon 1st ,unusually this is a Naval Officers Gorget..It demonstrates remains of its original fire gilding and retains its original rossets ....untouched condition . Any information other than stated greatfully received. Hope you like . best wishes Steve
peter monahan Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 [ Insert jumping up and down smiley face here] Very classy! I didn't even know the French Navy wore gorgets. Always associated them with the British Army. Peter
Ulsterman Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 (edited) wow! Love this. I have been looking for a book on French gorget s they seem to be still affordable and nice to look at. also many were "there" when history was made. Edited June 10, 2013 by Ulsterman
