That’s what I call “fervent zeal”

..., do you have a photo that could reasonably pass for Erast Petrovich Fandorin?

Aha!

Imaginary characters

No problem!

Composite drawing can be found here

Now we all should be on a lookout for a photo of guy that looks more or less like this

Best,

Nick

Now that`s really interesting!

Three "for zeal" + St. George Cross + Bulgarian cross "for bravery"

According to the paper cut he is a standart-bearer Mikhail Kazakov.

A most impressive gentleman! I am interested by his hat, court sword and collar insignia. Any guesses as to his title or rank? (Even if I can find something similar in one of my reference books, it will certainly be explained in formal, lawyerly Russian words that I'll be clueless to translate.)

Thanks not only for this but also for the threads on priests and aviation donation jettons, too.

Regards

Most likely he is from department of custom fees / департамент таможенных сборов

Thank you.

Those were obviously the days to be a customs officer!

All of the Russian customs agents that I've seen in person were in very nondescript, rumpled uniforms that they may have slept in. They certainly weren't bearing swords!
