very interesting thread Nick! Thanks
Next stop - Manchu badges
Nick, I have always heard that the badges in posts #17 and #18 are fakes. Have you heard anything about that?
They claim that these pieces are phantasy pieces?
Or they claim that these are replicas of original badges?
Hmmm, a test of my faulty memory...
But I think the latter may be true. I know that I have had #18 in my hands (years ago) but people decried it as fake--perhaps it was not a fantasy piece but a replica. However, I must confess that I cannot remember. One thing I do recall is that my badge(s?) had no reverse inscription, so perhaps that reveals something.
No reverse inscription on reverse of the badges from posts # 18 and #19?!
As we see one is marked Alois Klammer Innsbruck and usually described as "Hitler Youth Leader Travel to Japan Badge"
Here comes another example
and another one
Badge in post #18 marked with RZM mark + M 1/4 ...
Now this badge in post #17
Here is another example of such badge
There are indeed dubious badges (or let`s call them more dubious badges ).
Here we have two examples of such badges.
Badge from 1944 (don`t you think that it was a little but to late for such games ... ) and it is marked on reverse.
Comparison 1942 vs. 1944
Another example of this 1944
Looks not very promising
and another one...
And the most interesting one Rich.
1944 without reverse inscription
I know, I know ...
The photos are terrible
Another close up of badge commemorating the 1942 Tirol unity trip to Japan from Alois Klammer Innsbruck
Interesting that this 1939 badge has (at least it looks like it has) towo variation of enamel
Yellow instead of white
I bet that by now you are all a little bit tied of all these swastikas
A little intermezzo...
Just to cheer you up
Back on track.
Time to get familiar with two japanese badges for german participants of 1938 and 1940 HJ visits.
1938 badge (there were only 30 participants!!!)
It was issued in typical balsa box
