JapanX Posted December 21, 2013 Posted December 21, 2013 Nice 3rd class from Meiji epoch appeared at YJ. Nice condition of the order and box
JapanX Posted December 21, 2013 Author Posted December 21, 2013 Case corresponds with the order. But ribbon looks like later replacement. Same goes for the rosette.
utopis Posted December 21, 2013 Posted December 21, 2013 Man I hate that site. I'm looking every day for like two month and nothing. But when I take a break for one week things like that pop up. Thanks for pointing it out, Nick. By later replacement you mean taisho or showa but still in the period of awarding, right? Or modern day replacement?
utopis Posted December 21, 2013 Posted December 21, 2013 (edited) Meh still if its the right price, why not Well, let's wait four days. Nick, what do you think of this? http://page11.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/n123807134 Same modern replacement? Edited December 21, 2013 by utopis
JapanX Posted December 23, 2013 Author Posted December 23, 2013 And another 3st class Kite is currently at YJ. This one came from Showa epoch (I`d say late 30s) It has original ribbon and box.
JapanX Posted December 23, 2013 Author Posted December 23, 2013 Practically mint condition (only ray at 12 o`clock has typical dimness from inside crack)
JapanX Posted December 23, 2013 Author Posted December 23, 2013 Now let`s turn our attention to 4th class kites that are currently on sale. Check this out! Looks like seller doesn`t realize that this is actually 4th class kite ... Guess that`s why he decided to put it in case for 5th class kite from Showa epoch
JapanX Posted December 23, 2013 Author Posted December 23, 2013 4th class kite from Meiji in case for 5th class kite from Showa + rosette from red cross medal. That`s what I call "mix-amd-match"
JapanX Posted December 23, 2013 Author Posted December 23, 2013 Interestingly there is 4th class kite "in full assemblage" from Showa apoch (1936 + period of time) at the same trading place ...
utopis Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 The rosette... Hm, really a lot of kites currently for sale - 1x breast star 3x neck badge and all those lower classes
JapanX Posted December 23, 2013 Author Posted December 23, 2013 Yea, cool stuff!!!! But wait, here comes something special again
Brian Wolfe Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 These have to be the most beautiful awards anywhere. Thanks for never failing to add so much valuable information and absolutely wonderful specimens to the forum. Regards Brian
JapanX Posted December 23, 2013 Author Posted December 23, 2013 (edited) Today there will be a special Christmas posting for all our dear colleagues and friends - frequenters of Japan section of the forum. So stay tuned dear Brian! Edited December 23, 2013 by JapanX
JapanX Posted December 23, 2013 Author Posted December 23, 2013 Another example of "mix and match" practise. 5th class kite from 1938-1945 time period with document for 5th class kite from 1904 Check this out Exellent illustrative example of how silver kanji on the box lid looks after wearing off
JapanX Posted December 23, 2013 Author Posted December 23, 2013 Is it what I hope it is? It certainly is
