drclaw Posted December 25, 2013 Posted December 25, 2013 Nick, is the Grand Cordon to the last Satsuma daimyo in a museum or a private collection? It is an amazing piece of history in a period of monumental change in Japan.
JapanX Posted December 26, 2013 Author Posted December 26, 2013 (edited) A little correction Doc in posts # 85-89 was actually issued in the same 1971 to Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip. What?! Personally I blame "too many Princes got Grand Gordon in one year" situation  Edited December 26, 2013 by JapanX
Carol I Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 And the grand cross set (the star appears to have been damaged)
JapanX Posted March 19, 2014 Author Posted March 19, 2014 Very nice Collar and Gordon. Breast star has typical white enamel cracks. "Typical" for Chrysanthemum and Sacred treasure orders (natural consequences of deformation of the rays) Most likely Ferdinand I received both of them simultaneously. Strangely enough wiki completely ignores his Japanese orders http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ferdinand_I_of_Romania P.S. I remember these from your excellent old thread http://gmic.co.uk/index.php/topic/34663-orders-of-a-royal-couple/?hl=%2Bking+%2Bferdinand%26%2339%3Bs
utopis Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 Now show us hq pictures of the order of the orchid blossom, please
