TacHel Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 A new naval award was presented for the first time on 12 December 2013 in front of the Military Council in St Petersburg. Vice Admiral Viktor Kravchuk (left), Commander of the Baltic Fleet, and Northern Fleet Commander Admiral Vladimir Korolev (right) were the first 2 recipients of the Decoration "For Merit" of the Navy. Established in 2012 by ministerial order № 3505, it is awarded to military personnel of the Navy for special services and distinction in strengthening the combat readiness of military units and formations of the Navy, in enhancing combat skills, for courage and bravery shown during the performance of military duties. http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_01_2014/post-3030-0-83787100-1390793426.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_01_2014/post-3030-0-86434200-1390793436.jpg
Megan Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 Aaargh! Where does this go in the order of precedence?
TacHel Posted January 28, 2014 Author Posted January 28, 2014 Another Admirals only award? Many breast decorations "For Merit" are for officiers and warrant officers while the ones "For Distinction" are for other ranks... The only write up I've found so far for this one says it's for everybody but I'm not quoting the actual ministerial order which I have yet to find. I either case, the award to the 2 admirals was ceremonial in nature, not the norm.
TacHel Posted January 28, 2014 Author Posted January 28, 2014 Aaargh! Where does this go in the order of precedence? Breast decorations don't go in the order of precedence with medals. If they have one, their order of precedence is solely for similar awards worn on the opposite side to decide which one goes above or to the right of others, so far, I've only seen the MTsS (EMERCOM) with such a set order.
TacHel Posted May 18, 2014 Author Posted May 18, 2014 This one is the decoration "For Distinction", awarded for the same reasons as the decoration "For Merit" but to sailors and petty officers.
