Spasm Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 Done for a relative of Mr Daly complete with his two MOHs and Navy Cross and the famous quote .....
Laurence Strong Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 Wow. Not sure how I missed this. That is sweet work. I really like the way you displayed the 2 MOH's with the date's and theater. Many thanks Larry
Mervyn Mitton Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 Steve - superb work - worthy of a place in any specialist museum. Mervyn
IrishGunner Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 Agreed. Superb artwork. Why on a German helmet instead of a US?
Brian Wolfe Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 Another masterpiece, thanks for posting it,Spasm. Also thanks to Larry for reintroducing this topic as it is evident several members missed it the first time around (not to mention me). Regards Brian
TacHel Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 Beautiful work as usual... I'm just a bit perplexed as to why you chose a Stahlhelm as a canvas instead of a soup bowl helmet...
Spasm Posted August 2, 2014 Author Posted August 2, 2014 Thanks Gents, thanks Sgt Daly's relative asked me to paint the helmet for him. The original M16 helmet was his already so it was sent from the US for me to daub on. It was a really nice helmet, particularly after I cleaned it up. The design was already thought through so all I had to do was get it onto the helmet. Just a note for any of you thinking about sending something to the UK from the US. Import duties are 20% of the value of the item plus £8 admin fee and as the contents are insured the value is pretty well known to customs. The argument that I was never going to own the helmet got me nowhere - "pay the fee or we'll send it back" - jeez! Thanks again chaps
