    New state award of the Russian Federation established on 16 March 2015 by presidential decree 133.

    Medal "For Merit in the Development of Nuclear Energy"

    Awarded to citizens of the Russian Federation for achievements in the field of research, development and use of nuclear energy, for great contributions in nuclear and radiation safety, in training, in research and design activities, and for other achievements in the development of atomic energy aimed at a comprehensive socio-economic development of the Russian Federation, for strengthening its defense capability and ensuring national interests, for the expansion of international cooperation.  May also be awarded to foreign nationals for outstanding achievements in the development of the nuclear industry of the Russian Federation.

    The same decree also established the Honorary title "Honoured Worker of the nuclear industry of the Russian Federation" .​

    The honorary title "Honoured Worker of the nuclear industry of the Russian Federation" is assigned to highly skilled workers, engineers and scientists of the nuclear industry with at least 20 years of professional experience for personal services:
    -in the development and creation of unique models of equipment and the latest technology related to the development and use of nuclear energy and intended to ensure the national security of the Russian Federation and its international strategic interests;
    -in the development of technologies for improving the efficiency of operation of nuclear power, nuclear energy and nuclear weapons complexes of the Russian Federation, as well as the nuclear icebreaker fleet of ships;
    -in improving the safety of nuclear energy, nuclear and radiation safety, non-proliferation of nuclear materials and technologies;
    -in the development of nuclear science and technology;
    -in the training of qualified personnel for the nuclear industry.
