Mervyn Mitton Posted June 22, 2015 Share Posted June 22, 2015 The George Medal was created in 1940 and was for Bravery that did not merit the George Cross. Approx. 2000 have been issued - over 1000 of these to Civilians. Many of our Bomb Disposal experts have been honoured with this Award due to the extreme risks they have to take.
