I thought it would be nice to see photos of swords, daggers, bayonets, knives in wear. If you have any, please post them.

I will start off with a photo from my wedding portrait collection. A nice pic of a Lufwaffe first model dagger in wear.

Cheers,

Larry

Thanks Paul, I hope to see other members post some photos as well.

The dagger I posted in the first photo is the DLV (Deutscher Luftsport-Verband) version which is longer than the 1st pattern Luftwaffe dagger.

Here is a photo of the 1st pattern Luftwaffe dagger in wear.

Cheers,

Larry

Wonderful selection of photos Gentlemen. Some types I have not seen before. Andreas, the knife worn by the HJ Fuhrer I am not familiar with, is it standard issue?

Heer dagger.

Cheers,

Larry

Hi Larry,

the knife is the so called HJ - Führerdoch, very rare and I´ve never had

one in my hands.

I think father and son. The old man is wearing an IOD alter Art.

Regards
Andreas

A rare photo, Love the wedding with swords portrait. I have been told that photographers supplied swords as props to be used in photos.

Very nice HJ photos, the Reiter-HJ is very nice. What is the medal above the Sport Badge?

Kreigsmarine dagger.

Cheers,

Larry

In the Kriegsmarine was customary to have a Totenwache (watching over a dead shipmate) when a shipmate died. The body was covered by the flag and lied in state on the quarterdeck with an honor guard of two sailors with drawn bayonets (in the Marine HJ, with drawn Fahrtenmesser/knives) but no rifles.

Two photos of a Totenwache, on board the sailing school ship Horst Wessel, and on the Cruiser Emden.

    • Sounds great other than the Orange & Mango squash only because I prefer cran-pomegranate juice.
    • "(...) disgusting herbal concoction (...)" I took note of this description, to enrich my otherwise limited, English "Wortschatz"...
    • At work the standard indian tea such as PG tips is referred to as chimp tea. This goes back to the days when we had a Spanish girl working for us whose command of the English language was extremely limited. One lunch she said she was going to the shop could she get anything. I asked if she could get a pack of tea bags. She returned with some disgusting herbal concoction. I tried to explain what was required but without success. I then remembered PG tips had a picture of a chimpanzee on the packe
    • When I read Lapsang Souchong i decided to post something about these Tea . Many years ago I dont  know about Lapsang until I read James Michener book Centennial and the description of the savour of the Lapasang as a mix of tar and salt & smoked made me proof . It was exact ! and i liked it since then .
    • I have been known to drink Lapsang Souchong and Tea, Earl Grey, Hot... both "without pollutants". I normally have one mug of coffee in the morning, then spend the rest of the day drinking Orange & Mango squash (by the pint). Then evening comes and it's a pint, followed by red wine with dinner and sometimes a drop of Laphroaig afterwards.
