Railway eagle at antique mall? Authentic?

    Recommended Posts

I found this railway-type eagle at an antique mall today but am not familiar with them at all. It measures about 14 1/4 inches from tip to tip and unlike the photos of others I have seen, is completely unmarked on the reverse.

It at least appears old and has some wear and light corrosion. I wish I got a better picture of the front but only have one in the display case.

Any thoughts? Could this be authentic? What is the going price for these size Eagles?

Not my area but the ones that I have seen online are much cleaner on the reverse and the front view is not the best through the glass but even so the edge of the swastika arm at the 9 o clock looks to merge with the oak leaves?  My shout and I say without ever having had one in the hand is that it is a cast copy for the above stated reasons?

It definitely looks like a feldpost eagle and I'm leaning towards it being a cast copy. Why else would the holes on the wings be filled in? It isn't as clean on the reverse as the other examples I've seen so I will probably stay away.

    Thanks everyone.
