'Major' Anton Rzeszut

Hi,

I am trying to find more information on  the career of Major Anton Rzeszut (born 05 Aug 1889?).  The photo was taken 20 Dec 1940

I know he served in the Austro-Hungarian Army(no idea in what capacity) then the Austrian Bundesheeres, before the amalgamation into the German Wehrmacht.

As a start:  from the 1936 Austrian "Schematismus" I can provide the following information

Captain and company commander in Inf. R. 4 "Hoch- und Deutschmeister" in Vienna.

 

Date of rank as captain 27.01.1931.

 

He had the following awards and decorations:  all Austrian:

In 1939 & 1940 he was serving as a Major (E) in the Wehrbezirkskommando Reid (Innkreis).

He is listed in the 1944/45 Rangliste as an Oberstleutnant with a seniority date of 01.08.1941.

huck216, I am unfamiliar with the term 'Major (E) in the Wehrbezirkskommando'.  What is a Major (E)?

The (E) would stand for Ergänzungsoffizier - a Reserve category of service such as old officers called up to serve in such positions as the District Recruiting Offices.
