WPS2018 Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 Hey guys! Just got this in the mail. Pretty excited about it. From what I know its an Iranian naval cap, however, the era is unknown along with the writing on the tally. Couple questions; Is this from Shah's Iran pre-1979? What does the tally say? Is it authentic? P.S the white part of the cap is leather. - Nick Interestingly enough the today's Iranian Navy's logo consist of the same word (the first one). I feel like its a simple word, but I didn't score anything on translation sites.
Paul R Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 Magnificent. What era is it? I am guessing 1970-80's, based upon similar examples from other countries. Honestly, this is the first I've seen. Congrats.
Egyptian Zogist Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 I don't speak Persian, but based off just reading the inscription, the last word looks like "شاهنشاهي" (Shahenshahi "Imperial")
WPS2018 Posted January 4, 2016 Author Posted January 4, 2016 I believe it's a 1970s era. I figured it'd be from pre-1979. I'm pretty excited about it. I'm going to post a closer pic of the marking inside. There is English and Farsi on it with the Iranian city of Abadan marked down. For some reason, it strikes me as a British influenced cap.
g1usxs Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 The literal transliteration from farsi is "Imperial Naval Force". It is a hat from Imperial Iranian Navy.
