GreyC Note that he had three head wounds, though the third did not require hospitalization. One Gewehr-Geschoß and two Artillerie-Geschosse. Only three months to recover after being shot in the head in 1914, and since it was 1914 presumably while wearing a Pickelhaube. Fairly lucky. The second wound was on 21.3.16 in the Battle of Verdun. It says "Albaucourt", but I do not know of a village by that name, so it is probably Abaucourt. There is a large German cemetery just east of Abaucourt.
