Indian Regiment / Unit

Hi

 

I have acquired a 20 year long service medal (India post 1947) and the regiment / unit on the medal is - D.SD

Does anyone know what regiment or unit this would be?

That is an odd one.  Can't think of or find any unit whose initials are even close.  Can you give us the full naming, please?

The only thing that I can think of, and it's a wild guess is something like 'S... Security Detail', as I believe that the IA uses both paramilitary police and civilian security firms to guard some of their establishments.   A puzzle.

@cazack You sure it's DSD? Coz if it were DSC, that's "Defence Security Corps", which isn't army by the way- it's a separate body for routine sentry/ security duties of permanent/stationary assets and establishments.

It should be DSC - Defence Security Corps .
