ccj Posted May 25, 2020 Posted May 25, 2020 Hello, I came across this interesting Kleiner Rock and thought I’d post. It have gray collar tabs, silver buttons, and Officer boards that have a blue background, not gray.
The Prussian Posted May 30, 2020 Posted May 30, 2020 (edited) Hello! Which ribbons do we see? Waldeck would be white-yellow-red-black Lippe-Detmold would be white-red-yellow Kleiner Rock: The colour of the collar tab should be the same colour as the base colour of the shoulder board! Verkehrstruppen (including aviators) had grey collar tabs. The shoulder straps of aviators had a grey base too! Fliegerbataillone additionally had a coloured piping: 1.Btl.: white 2.Btl.: red 3.Btl.: yellow 4.Btl.: light blue Other units: no edge trim So we have Flieger-Btl.4. But the collar tabs and the shoulder boards should have had the blue pipings for 4th bataillon! 4th Fliegerbataillon on Kleiner Rock: Edited May 30, 2020 by The Prussian
ccj Posted May 30, 2020 Author Posted May 30, 2020 I’ll look but think ribbon is Mecklenburg The shoulder board underlay color is near cornflower blue
The Prussian Posted May 31, 2020 Posted May 31, 2020 If it´s grey, it fits! Mecklenburg had ribbons with blue, yellow or red in the middle.

chuck Posted June 12, 2020 Posted June 12, 2020 Mecklenburg Schwerin and Mecklenburg Sterlitz used the same color combination on their ribbon for their Military Merit crosses 2nd class. Chuck
ccj Posted June 13, 2020 Author Posted June 13, 2020 Yes, General Staff correct, could be Mecklenburg Schwerin or Strelitz

ccj Posted June 13, 2020 Author Posted June 13, 2020 That’s a good question... would be a great question had I known the answer.

I think there's a mix up here - the GS kleiner Rock is not a Mecklenburg item. There are now two discussions here, one of a ribbon on another kleiner Rock, the other on hte GS kleiner Rock ...... ?
ccj Posted June 13, 2020 Author Posted June 13, 2020 Correct... and not much opinions on the Aviation Kleiner Rock
chuck Posted June 13, 2020 Posted June 13, 2020 On the original post the Klienerrock has two ribbons in the button hole. the 1st ribbon is all Black. Is that the Prussian Order of St John, or is their another award that uses the same single black color ribbon? chuck
ccj Posted June 14, 2020 Author Posted June 14, 2020 Hi Chuck, I’m pretty sure the first ribbon is/was an EKII that the white stripes have worn off or become dark. I’ve seen the white stripes wear harder than the black. Ribbon guys may know why.
ccj Posted August 8, 2020 Author Posted August 8, 2020 Here’s the Kleiner Rock on a torso. camera in my phone not great
