******UNIQUE RARE POLICE LONG SERVICE AND GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL****

FOR COLLECTORS OF POLICE MEDALS THIS MUST SURELY BE THE SET TO HAVE IN YOUR COLLECTION????

IN 2001 THE QUEENS GOLDEN JUBILEE MEDAL WAS OFFERED TO THE POLICE SERVICE, BUT THE THEN HOME SECRETARY JACK STRAW DECLINED THE MEDAL ON THE POLICE BEHALF.  HIS SON HAD NOT LONG BEFORE BEEN ARRESTED FOR SELLING DRUGS?  I'M SURE THIS DID NOT INFLUENCE HIS DECISION.  HOWEVER, WARWICKSHIRE POLICE OFFICER KENNETH FOWLER DISCOVERED THIS AND ENLISTED THE SUPPORT OF THE POLICE FEDERATION, CHIEF OFFICERS AND MP's AND LOBBIED FOR THE DECISION TO BE OVERTURNED.  IT WAS, AND AS A RESULT EVERY POLICE OFFICER, AMBULANCE AND FIRE OFFICER RECEIVED THE MEDAL IN 2002.  CONSTABLE FOWLER RECEIVED SCANT RECOGNITION, WITH OTHERS TAKING CREDIT LATE IN 2001.  THE POLICE REVIEW MAGAZINE DATED 4th MAY 2001 REVEALS ANOTHER STORY.

THIS SET A PRECEDENCE AND IN 2012 THE QUEENS DIAMOND JUBILEE MEDAL, WAS ALSO AWARDED TO POLICE, FIRE & AMBULANCE AND AMONGST OTHERS THE PRISON SERVICE.  IN A NUTSHEEL EVERY POLICE OFFICER, FIREFIGHTER, AMBULANCE OFFICER AND PRISON OFFICER RECIPIENT OF THE 2002 & 2012 JUBILEE MEDALS DOES SO BY VIRTUE  OF THE EFFORTS OF WARWICKSHIRE POLICE OFFICER KENNETH FOWLER.

KENNETH FOWLER NEXT TURNED HIS ATTENTION TO THE AWARD OF THE POLICE LONG SERVICE AND GOOD CONDUCT AWARD CRITERIA, A MEDAL INSTITUTED IN JUNE 1951.  TWENTY-TWO (22) YEARS WAS REQUIRED COMPARED TO THE TWENTY YEARS OF THE AMBULANCE, FIRE AND PRISON LS&GC's.  A LETTER FROM KENNETH FOWLER TO THE HOME OFFICER WAS MET BY A "IT WOULD NOT BE ALTERED" REPLY.  PURELY WANTING PARITY WITHIN THE U.K. EMERGENCY SERVICES, KENNETH FOWLER LOBBIED CHIEF OFFICERS, THE POLCE FEDERATION, THE SUPERINTENDENTS ASSOCIATION AND MP's.  THE SUPPORT IN FAVOUR OF KENNETH FOWLERS REQUEST WAS OVERWHELMING, WITH A VERY SMALL MINORITY INCLUDING CHIEF CONSTABLE PETER FAHY.

AN ANNOUNCEMENT IN THE LONDON GAZETTE ANNOUNCED THAT HER MAJESTY QUEEN ELIZABETH II, HAD ALTERED THE QUALIFICATION PERIOD IN RECOGNITION OF KENNETH FOWLERS PLEA FOR PARITY WITHIN THE EMERGENCY SERVICES.  KENNETH FOWLER RECEIVED A LETTET OF APPRECIATION ON BEHALF OF THE UNITED KINGDON POLICE SERVICE FOR HIS EFFORTS.

KENNETH FOWLER RETIRED FROM WARWICKSHIRE POLICE IN 2015, HAVING SERVED 25 YEARS POLICING NORTH AND SOUTH WARWICKSHIRE AND TWO YEARS OVERSEAS POLICING WITH THE EUROPEAN POLICE.  DURING HIS TOUR OF DUTY IN THE BALKANS HE WAS SPECIALLY AWARDED THE NATO SERVICE MEDAL BY THE MULTI NATIONAL MILITARY COMMANDER FOR VOLUNTARY ASSISTING THE NATO ARMY IN THE BALKANS WITH HUMAN TRAFFICKNG, MASS GRAVE IDENTIFICATION AND ILLEGAL LOGGING OPERATIONS.

THIS LOT COMPRISES OF POLICE LS&GC EIIR NAMED TO KENNETH FOWLER, ESDP EUROPEAN UNION POLICE MISSION (EUPM) BOSNIA MEDAL NAMED TO KENNETH FOWLER WITH CONFIRMING ISSUE CERTIFICATE.  THIS WAS THE VERY FURST ESDP MEDAL EVER ISSUED AND WAS LOCALLY MADE IN BOSNIA.  SUBSEQUENT ESDP MEDALS HAVE ALL BEEN MADE BY EEKLERS.  THIS ITSELF IS A RARE EXAMPLE OF A FIRST ISSUE (1000) MEDAL.  NATO BALKANS MEDAL NAMED TO KENNETH FOWLER WITH CONFIRMING CERTIFICATE.  QUEEN'S GOLDEN JUBILEE MEDAL & QUEEN'S DIAMOND JUBILEE MEDAL BOTH UNNAMED AS ISSUED.  NO QUEENS POLICE MEDAL UNFORTUNATELY FOR AN OFFICER WHO CHANGED SO MUCH NOT ONLY WITHIN WARWICKSHIRE BUT FOR THE ENTIRE UNITED KINGDOM POLICE SERVICE AND THE UNITED KINGDOM EMERGENCY SERVICES.

ALL MEDALS BELONG TO FORMER WARWICKSHIRE POLICE OFFICER KENNETH FOWLER, HAVE NEVER BEEN OUT OF THEIR ORIGINAL BOXES AND ARE OFFERED FOR SALE WITH A WEALTH OF FURTHER SUPPORTING DOCUMENTATION AND IMAGES.  FURTHER IMAGES AND INFORMATION CAN BE SUPPLIED UPON REQUEST.

    • Lapsang Souchong, when i first tasted this I thought it was like stale cigarette ends...it's an acquired taste for sure.
    • I like my tea strong enough for my spoon to stand up in. My father got me into it. When my father was at RAF Dum Dum 1943-47 most of his fellow officers drank ice cold drinks to mitigate  the heat, his Sikh batman warned him against it and said that strong hot tea would cool him down, most certainly did. So years later in the UK when everybody else was drinking iced drinks on a baking day the wood family was inbibing copious quantities of hot strong brews of Assam's finest. P
    • Hi ccj, Thanks for your comments. Funny how, for me at least, coffee has become a habit more than a conscience choice. It's the old, "Well if you having one (coffee) pour me as well". When I get together with my son-in-law, a former Brit, it's tea all the way. Thanks again. Regards Brian
    • I live and grew up in the south (USA) and the drink of choice 7 days a week was cold sweet tea. I was unaware Lipton was British because that’s what most southern use for brewing tea. When I joined the army I learned most people in the north and western parts of the USA drank unsweetened tea and that was perplexing to my young brain. Now days I can’t stand sweet iced tea but it’s still the most common drink in the south, but, you can get unsweetened ice tea in the south. Im familiar with ho
    • I drink tea every day (Chinese tea), I used to buy Sri Lankan black tea at the fair before, it was great! I have been reluctant to drink them all. . The tea I’m talking about is just brewing water, not adding other substancesI
