    The National Archives have a record for one Patrick William Humphreys appointed Lieutenant on 15th January 1919 which could be your Man, if you search the National Archives Royal Navy Officers records for Patrick Humphreys you can order a PDF download with whatever information they have on him.

    So far i found he reached the Rank of Commander He was born in Bombay India in 1905.

    No surprise he was born in India, since his father was an Officer from the British Army -reached rank of Major. Killed in Action in Belgium  in 1914

    I find it interesting that the tin I have for a navy bicorn is painted with the same pattern as yours

    I tried to find any information regarding the Navy Officer, however no luck

    There is a different maker label in my hat so I guess it must have been a wider practice at the time…
