VtwinVince Posted Thursday at 17:02 Share Posted Thursday at 17:02 Has anyone noticed the EK1 1813, allegedly belonging to Freiherr von Gayl, currently on German fleabay?
BlackcowboyBS Posted Thursday at 18:13 Share Posted Thursday at 18:13 a link would be useful, so here it is: https://www.ebay.de/itm/132779535901?
Peter Cornwell Posted Friday at 06:07 Share Posted Friday at 06:07 Yup. And you cannot wish for better provenance than that! Pitched at an institutional purchase would be my guess. Beautiful collection of some historical importance but as I would only be interested in the medal & am not prepared to sell my car (nor my wife) to finance its purchase I will just have to pass. Thanks for the heads-up BlackcowboyBS. Now its Australian cousin could be an entirely different matter https://www.ebay.com/itm/115380630730?hash=item1add38b4ca:g:Wv8AAOSwGghifHsZ
VtwinVince Posted Friday at 16:40 Author Share Posted Friday at 16:40 As I stated on the German forum, I have a bad feeling about the EK2, and some of the seller's other material is fake.
BlackcowboyBS Posted Friday at 18:41 Share Posted Friday at 18:41 I can't judge it from these photos, but would doubt nearly every IC from 1813 at the beginning. They are rare as hell so temptation to fool collectors is pretty high. And to be honest, does one really expect to find a hidden treasure on ebay? I don't! But in Germany we have a saying: Man hat schon Pferde kotzen sehen, so nothing is impossible.
VtwinVince Posted Friday at 21:41 Author Share Posted Friday at 21:41 LOL, das ist echt komisch. Anyway, in the 'olden days' you could find great rarities on ebay, but those days seem to be over.
bolewts58 Posted Saturday at 03:40 Share Posted Saturday at 03:40 While it may be on eBay, it's being sold by Kai Winkler. That should be all you need to know to run in the opposite direction.
VtwinVince Posted Saturday at 16:07 Author Share Posted Saturday at 16:07 Indeed, 'House of History' could be translated as 'House of Crap'.
