Farkas Posted October 31, 2023 Posted October 31, 2023 Hello Gents, some new arrivals… Below what I think is a lovely looking example : ’Der Tapferkeit’ , Bronze A bronze ‘Fortitudini’ it’s most likely my imagination but… to me (I see it everywhere!) the edge looks like it has had details filed off, lots of pits and flat patches like one sees on British medals. the 3 ‘sides’… and an unusual, presumably ‘war metal’ one : ‘Fortitudini’ The front is very worn but the reverse is curved inwards slightly and still sharp. It doesn’t clean up… I’ve tried. Cheers tony 🍻 1
1812 Overture Posted December 26, 2023 Posted December 26, 2023 Please see the bottom left corner. I also have a large-sized example of Emperor Franz with copper plating and gold plating
Christian1962 Posted December 26, 2023 Posted December 26, 2023 (edited) @Overture: Sorry, but there were no Wiederholungsspangen for "Militärverdienstmedaille in Bronze" - if an officer achieved a second award, he recieved the "Militärverdienstmedaille in Silber". This could have been awarded three times all in all. "MIlitärverdienstmedaille in Silber" was awarded just with one or two "Wiederholungsspangen" - never three what would have meant a 4th award. Here the text for the award of the "Bronzene Militärverdienstmedaille": Here the text for the award of the "Silberne Militärverdienstmedaille": Here the text for the second award of the "Silberne Militärverdienstmedaille" (= "1. Wiederholungsspange"): And here the text for the third award of the "Silberne Militärverdienstmedaille" (= "2. Wiederholungsspange"): This means that an officer could be awarded the "Militärverdienstmedaille am Bande des Militärverdienstkreuzes mit Schwertern" four times: 1. Bronzene Militärverdienstmedaille ..., then 2. Silberne Militärverdienstmedaille ..., then 3. Silberne Militärverdienstmedaille ... mit einer Wiederholungsspange, then 4. Silberne Militärverdienstmedaille ... mit zwei Wiederholungsspangen. Same regulations were valid for the issue without swords. Kindest regards Christian Edited December 26, 2023 by Christian1962 1
