No one
Dear Gentlemen, The French aeronautical boilermakers (Chaudronniers aéronautique) call themselves 'chumac'. This is how a chumac friend describes himself. " Choumac or aeronautical boilermaker, the second most beautiful of the air force's specialties after pilot of course. I say this because I practiced it for 25 years in the AA and now in the civilian world. What is a choumac? a boilermaker a welder a painter a mechanic aircraft structures (plane and helicopter) a fitter an NDT mechanic (also) structural treatment (corrosion in preventive and curative) mechanic in composite materials (carbon fiber, glass, nida, etc...) and above all an artist with "golden" hands. It's the one who finds repair solutions, who makes custom tools on demand who repairs incidents of birds or/mechanics (it happens...) and all this in one and the same person. It's not a job, it's a passion and a vocation. Choumac one day, choumac always..." FFDJ : Dans la peau d’un choumac de la BA 188 (defense.gouv.fr) - Troupes de CHOUMACS 2006-2007: - Troupes de CHOUMACS 2007-2008: I'm not sure if you noticed, but the patches are shaped like crown cork and come in the color of Heineken beer!
