Bratovanov.T Posted March 6 Posted March 6 Hello, could someone please identify this badge and when was it given? I am doing a research on a forgotten Bulgarian general from my hometown who received it when he visited London in 1936 with general Vladimir Vazov. Any info is helpful!!!! Info like what people had received it and in which year.
svapr Posted Sunday at 10:11 Posted Sunday at 10:11 A good original early large sized 'British Legion Honorary Membership gilt and enamel badge. The manufacturer was probably "J.R.Gaunt London", Registration Number "686125" a Registered Design and Patent Number for 1922. The British Legion was founded in 1921 as a voice for the ex-Service community as a merger of four organisations: the Comrades of the Great War, the National Association of Discharged Sailors and Soldiers, the National Federation of Discharged and Demobilized Sailors and Soldiers and the Officers' Association. It was granted a Royal Charter on 29 May 1971 to mark its fiftieth anniversary which gives the Legion the privilege of the prefix 'Royal'. Earl Haig, British commander at the Battle of the Somme and Passchendaele was one of the founders of the Legion and the President until his death.
