Berlin, 1859: "Uebersicht des im Jahre 1858 im Gesch?ftskreise der General-Ordens-Kommission eingetretetenen Ver?nderungen" was an early form of supplement to what became the periodic Orders Listen. Unlike the later annual tallies of that year's recipients of decorations, this slender volume had a calendar listing all holders of Prussian decorations whose personal status had been altered by death-- "durch Tod vorgefallenen Ver?nderungen."

Here are the few 1857 deaths of 1813 Iron Cross recipients missed in the tally for that year published in 1858. (There were far far more for 1858, which I will get to when I can type them also.)

Originally listed by calendar date, with place of residence after their status. Holders who do not show a residence are unexplained. "Seniors" had special pension rights limited in number, from what I understand. "EK2w" indicates a "white-black" noncombatant ribbon holder. All of the above were holders of the 2nd Class. If they held any other Prussian decoration, that too was shown--and presumably returned per regulations. Note how completely under-decorated by 20th century standards even very senior officers were.

I hope that this may prove of some value in compiling a listing of 1813 Iron Cross recipients-- and keep at least two years of them from simply vanishing without trace after their awards were bestowed. But if all this data is Already Out There PLEASE let me know-- since there are about 300 deaths for 1858 including a number of Pour le Merite holders and a lesser number of 1813 EK1 holders and... my time and typing can better serve NOT duplicating something Already Done.

Freakishly enough, awards of the 1813 Iron Cross were still listed as being made in 1858-- but that is a subject for the living, not the dead.
