Wreathed Horse & Swords: Brunswick 01

    Brunswick WW1 Long-Frontline Service Device

This "Bew?hrungsabzeichen" has no pleasing English translation. Only worn on the ribbon of a combatant ribboned Ernst August Cross, here, it represents at least two years of service at the front. Created in 1918, it was considered an entirely separate distinction when the Cross was made into two grades, and many 1st Class (pinback) holders never received this. It could ONLY be worn after an official bestowal via an award document.

In Rank Lists, the plain Cross was shown as "BrKr2" while that embellished with this device was rpresented by "BrKr2a."
