Eagle: Luftwaffe Size Comparison
These are the two usual sizes of Luftwaffe long service eagle. The tiny "hummingbird" on top is from an attributed Luftwaffe General and dates from 1936. (The fading on the blue ribbons was starkly noticable even in a wartime photo of him), while the larger "sharp eyed parrot" type is from an attributed Imperial navy/Luftwaffe Flak Oberst's ribbon bar.
A third style with upturned tail, generally a bit larger than the sharp eyed parrot, is known but has NOTHING to do with breast eagle and assumed changes in tail designs. The Wehrmacht long service awards date from 1936 when the drop-tailwas the ONLY style.
