Wreath & Swords: Bronze

This one is on a completely botched, dyslexic 1930s ribbon bar which has NOTHING done right!

Somebody at the shop garbled this poor guy's order, and rather than a correct gold Austrian ?M3K wreath on that ribbon and correct bronze swords on the Hindeburg Cross ribbon, put this combined device on the Hindenburg alone!

Now I have seen this device illustrated in catalogs, but cannot imagine ANY award that COULD have used it except a gold one for a German officer wearing one as a late war ?M3K combination.

Sometimes when you can't explain things, it's because-- like this example-- there was no good reason even THEN!
