Pour le Merite Winner Wearing Old Style Ribbon Bar in 1918 0
Here is a closer view of General von La Chevallerie's "Pure Prussian Front." His AMAZING awards here are 100% Prussian-- he is not wearing any other of the awards he had earned!!!!
Note that his Old Style ribbon bar displays the spectrum shift making the DARK blue long service ribbon in next to last place APPEAR lighter than the LIGHT yellow 1897 Centenary Medal in last piece-- as in the "tricks Of The Light" scan.
His awards are (what should be Commander neck grades customarily worn down his tunic front as multiples)
1) Pour le Merite (no Oakleaves yet)
2) Red Eagle Order 2nd Class X with Oakleaves (replacing a peacetime 3rd Class with Bow)
3) Crown Order 2nd X (see star)
4) Saint John Order-Knight of Justice
Ribbon bar =
1) Iron Cross 2nd Class 1914
2) Red Eagle Order 4th Class with Crown (holders of grades with crowns were allowed to keep them in wear)
3) Crown Order 3rd (this SHOULD have been replaced by the 2nd Class X)
4) XXV Years Service CRoss
5) Kaiser Wilhelm Centenary Medal 1897
Pinback =
1) Star of theCrown Order 2nd Class X
2) Iron Cross 1st Class 1914
3) Saint John Order-all knights (basic grade)
which comes to an even dozen of ALL PRUSSIAN awards. He is simply not wearing any of the others he recieved-- not much space left!
