    Brunswick WW1 Device

This "elderly" Lieutenant is wearing the "Bew?hrungsabzeichen" indicating long WW1 frontline service on his Brunswick Ernst August Cross-- second on his ribbon bar.

Enigmatically, he has a SINGLE dark blue plain long service ribbon. If he was a former Imperial NCO with an XII Years Service Medal, say-- he should have updated it while in wartime Wehrmacht uniform to the 1936 Wehrmacht long service awards types.

So was this a Polizei 8 years medal? Something from the R.A.D.?

With the "generic" plain ribbon-- we'll never know!
