Just for interest, here is Souvals postwar Grand CRoss copy. Rather well done, complete with acid frosted inner frame.

That second type looks real familiar, Gordon!
Much better pics George ! I could only find the low res scans I took. The better ones got lost when my PC hard drive got wiped.

And a pin more typical of the type usually found on EK1s.

The other style has a "dimpled" finish under the paint, and a stepped swastika

And slender pin

This is the more common set up for the Round 3 EK1. Smooth paint finish.

Very nice Bill. Certainly one of the scarcer ones.

This one, though not exactly attractive, is much rarer. a one piece Zink stamping.

Just for reference, the smaller one is around 42mm vs around 44mm for the regular Schinkel.

That many different types of EKll's, without even getting into the different MM's. and here I am about to embark on an EK adventure, this is going to hurt the pocket book
Nice set Gordon, how hard are the ubergrosse to find and what do they run for in price?
?bergrosse can easily set you back between $650 and $750.

This one also comes in 1st Class form, note the same numeral 9

One of the rarer Schinkels. A noticeably smaller version of the Schinkel B. Note the "pointed" tail on the numeral 9 rather than the normal curl.

Hi Rick,
I got the same update announcement today. Saw it, bought it. Very cheap and yes, its a Hymenn "type".

Yes, he was Austrian. There are various stories about why the "Mac" part was dropped including one that G?ring wanted him to "Germanise" his name. If so, it didn't really work as his nickname amongst other pilots was always "Mac", so he went from Gordon MacGollob to Gordon "Mac " Gollob.
