Cameron,
For advise on these discs, contact Don Bible. He is the ultimate authority on these (he has several books out on the subject), and a hell of a nice guy to boot. There is an e.mail link to him on his site.

Whilst this forum came from the initial demand for a venue to cover "1957" awards, it is indeed intended as a home for all post 45 German awards, be they 57 versions of TR awards, awards of the BRD or awards of the DDR.
I know we have members who have some fine examples of the Bundesverdienstkreuz and I hope we see some of the nice quality early examples of these as well as Communist DDR awards.

Black Badge with Document.

Couple more recent additions. I love the fact that interesting little sets like these can still be picked up at very low prices compared even to the more common TR stuff.
"Mattweiss" Badge with its document.

Wonderful pieces ! Just goes to prove that the humble Imperial Wound Badge is definitely vastly under-rated.

Wow!!!
Beautiful beast, that one. I guess the recess at the top reverse is so that it could also have had a hinge fitted and be completed in a pinback configuration ?

Just arrived thanks to Stogieman !
Anyone else have screwback Wound Badges to show ?

Really not possible to say from these photos. You would need much closer shots and details of the inetrior, with the sweatband folded back to show the construction of the band stiffener.

This is a fairly generic obverse design, used by several companies ( i.e. Orth, Souval, Wernstein, Foerster & Barth and several others) but without a distinguishing mark or distinctive pin/hinge set up, almost impossible to attribute to a specific maker.

Nice. The "D" before the name "Der Deutche" stands for "Dampfer" or Steamer.

Not with positive proof, but generally believed to be Juncker.

Terry,
Yup, exactly the same.
Souval stuff, as ever, can be tricky. I've seen both the angular and round R and S letters on badges with correct original wartime "furniture" (pins/hinges etc), but also both round and angular types on badges with the typical postwar Souval furniture.

Now I've looked at the images on another monitor and having darkened the image slightly to get rid of the glare I can see that it is indeed a Bronze one. I can also see what looks like the very beginnings of bubbling (circled).
If dimensions and weights match near enough bang on compared with the correct dimensions/weights for original zinkers, I am much happier that it isn't one of the high quality tombak fakes, but an original zink piece..

Very very nice Jody. The Bronze clasp, ( a bit like the situation with Krim shields) can come in colours from a pale honey bronze like this to a dark chocolate colour. I think the palers ones are particularly nice.
