    1. Some nice photos... and some scarce tallies...

Are all of them in your collection?

The photos came from a Kriegsmarine sailors album but were the type available commercially at the time. I've seen several of the same type in different albums. They are all around 10 inches long and about 4 inches wide a standard format for these.

I had the ribbons for virtually all the named ships, but they've all gone apart from a small handful. Now I only go for the U-Boat ones.

I stopped this half way through as I had to try and hunt down the photos of my Blucher and Prinz Eugen ribbons which I still haven't found.

I'll just put the ships photos in for now and add the ribbons for these two later, then I can get on and add the light cruisers.

    2. These lightweight and tropical jackets weren't only worn in the Med or other hot areas, but were in general wear even in the North Atlantic. It could become oppressively hot within the confines of a U-Boat. The leather jackets/trousers you see U-Boat men wearing were only when on deck /on the tower whilst on watch etc. When inside the submarine lightweight clothing was usually worn.

In really hot areas, as often as not the men wore shorts and canvas shoes and nothing else.

      Yummy

I have never come across fakes of these so I would say it is a goodie. Japanese miniatures are very scarce since they did not have a tradition of wearing them, hence the only people who ever bothered with them tended to be diplomats or officials who worked outside of Japan and needed them to conform to Western court norms.

Thanks Paul, excellent news. So, it wasn't bad at ?10 then ! :D

    4. Not the same quality, but then much MUCH rarer to enlisted men than commanders--

here is Oberj?ger Gude, Hausknecht, or Meermann of J?ger Bn 5:

I was hoping someone might have a nice shot of a lower ranking bod with the 1870 EKs. Shoulda known it would be Rick !

    5. I haven't seen much in the way of miniatures of Japanese awards. Picked this up recently for a song so its not a big deal either way, but does anyone have any opinions whether this is good or bad.
