Here is a raised bubble double Albert. The "A" sits on a raised dome. It is my favorite of the different samples in my collection.
Dear James
This model is a LII where the center of the back has been modified, see
http://users.telenet.be/deploige/OMD-DM/Francais/Albert/Hybride-2.html

Here's the boxes; the one on the right has diamond-shaped padding. The other one has two blind holes on the inside bottom, towards the center and a gold colored seal on the inside top:
the gold center is of FONSON

What about a guy that started out as an enlisted man, say he did 10 years service, then through one avenue or another was promoted into the officer ranks. From there, he did another 15 years service. I assume, at that point, he would be entitled to the 2nd Class award. If he remained in service, say another 10 years (35 years total military service and 25 years as an officer), would he then upgrade to the 1st class award. Can you actually do 35 years??
Tim
Dear Tim this is correct, a g?n?ral can end his service at the adge of 65
so he can do 45 years of service, I think this is the maximum

Any pointers as to the difference in original/restrike? The only difference I can see is the obvious patina/wear but this can always be "arranged"
Look at the d?tails on each medal and you will see the differences

"German Atrocities: 1914- A History of Denial" by John Horne and Alan Kramer is worth reading.
By the way Simon Deploige is mentioned in that book on page 40, 274, 388 see also footnotes 145 page 40
