Nice collection. I like to collect these too ??
In fact I’m just about to take receipt of my second collectors book print run on the blood order collection subject. The first book was well received by collectors, I hope the second volume will be also. It features all my new collection in the past 5 years plus a special section at the end on my top5 most favourite medals.

The only Fritz von Otto I find was a technical officer in flying corps WW1 *1887, awards do not match--so if he WAS that "Oberst" he would have been Luftwaffe
The only Böhlers who turn up were Badeners--no match
Wahls certainly came from Württemberg, but I find no Eugen. There were Karl, Otto, and Wilhelm with WF3bXs, and Kriegsgerichtssekretär who could not be that man.
Your non career officer looks like he was in artillery, maybe, from the Waffenfarbe shade on his insignia. For a non-career Major he was probably a char. Hauptmann aD after the First War. I agree that is a WW2 Rumanian "war ribbon" used on most Orders, in his burttonhole.
That is the blood order ribbon. I have that portrait in my photograph collection, only that one. I also collect photos of the blood order or its ribbon in wear. Did you only have that image of him or more?

Nick,
Glad to hear you have a sensible approach. I have nothing to gain from this, its not my site. but feel that if a member is looking for one well here is a nice one with a photo of it in wear. http://www.relicsofthereich.com/shop/shop.php

Don,
Look closely on your regular pin. It looks like on the reverse they have removed part of the round support disk[top half] that the pin is attatched to,looks like so they could engrave in that space. You would think it would have been easier for them to have put the numbers a little higher, like on mine infact. Did you notice this before? Could it possibley be some kind of period repair maybe ?

Don,do you specialise in these pins? only I noticed your Avatar on the WA forum and now here is the FM pin.
Also what is the going rate for one of those'honour' versions ?........... If you can find them !

...........and the reverse. Are we allowed to post links to dealers sites on this forum ? As I know of a very nice one with a picture of the wearer wearing the pin,can I post a link for our members to see who may be interested?

OK, a stupid question. These were given for donations??
Very nice looking pin.
Jim , Yes thats correct. Given to regular contributers to the SS funds ,probably on a 'direct debit' style system.Anyway that has always been my understanding. Of course there is also the FM Magazine that was connected to the whole thing and maybe some of the money collected went in to that, maybe contibuters got a regular copy, infact I have heard this was the case.
This is mine with a little friend.
